The biggest or most meaningful act of kindness that someone has ever done for me is that my mother adopted me. I could have still been in the DHS Foster System, but she adopted me. I was 6 years old going on 7 right before I was adopted and I had no one to call mom, no siblings that I knew of and no one to tuck me in at night. When she adopted me, she gave me a piece of belonging or a purpose that I could fulfill which was to be a daughter.
In my life, whether it was a person that gave me food when I was hungry, a clerk that gave me a discount when I didn't have enough money, or a friend listening to me cry my heart out on the phone, this act has been the most meaningful in my life. I was taught to always be the best you could be in anything you do in life and remember that someone is always watching. I also learned that the good that you put out there will always come back to you, especially when you do things selflessly. She could’ve adopted me for the money, or for admiration, or simply to help one child in a bad situation better themselves. Whatever the reason, I am grateful, thankful, and blessed to receive that kindness that she gave me.
