I suppose the kindest thing that anyone has done for me is a gift that my dad gave to me in a different way. Growing up most of my friends got what they wanted and even in our teens they seem to be blessed with a lot. My family was never rich but we were well off. However, my dad never saw the sense in just giving us things. Growing up he had to struggle for everything he wanted and needed.
When my brother was sixteen and I was thirteen, my dad purchased from a friend a lawn care business with a truck, trailer, and mowers. My brother and I soon had to go out and take over the previous yards being worked and take on extra ones. Within a year we were able to pay off the truck and equipment. My brother and I soon found we have an income that not many of our friends could match at our age. It was a blessing in disguise; my brother and I were able to afford college off the bat. Also instead of just giving us something, he gave us an opportunity to earn everything we wanted, and I am grateful for that gift. I hope someday I can give that act of kindness to my children.
