Everyday I try to do an act of kindness, whether it is something as small as opening or holding a door for someone, or something as big as donating money.
One thing in particular was both small and big in many ways. A friend of mine was holding a Christmas party at her house a few nights before Christmas. She was very excited about it because she was hoping a lot of people would come over and have a great time. Sadly, most of the people couldn’t make it for some odd reason or another. It really made her depressed. I was one of the people who wouldn’t be able to make it. The night of the party, I felt guilty because I knew she was by herself waiting for someone to ring the doorbell.
The next school day I gathered a bunch of our friends, without her knowing, and arranged another party to surprise her. To set it up, I was going to spend the night at her house and everyone was going to show up all at once with all the party materials.
Operation “Surprise Party” was a success! She actually cried because it made her so happy.
